Cold pilger tube rolling mill type HPT-90 with "Tandem" roll saddle

The mill is intended for cold and warm rolling of tubes of 20 through 76 mm diameter of carbon, alloy, bearing and corrosion-resistant steel grades, non-ferrous metals and alloys. Tube rolling is carried out using an axially restricted conical mandrel simultaneously by two pairs of reciprocating rolls which have roller dies with grooves of varying cross section and allow per one pass to deform, e.g. carbon steel tube of 89 x 8 dimension into 33 x 3.0.

Due to a special pattern of axial compression of tube metal between the roll pairs this mill alone can provide for 3 to 5 times lower tube wall thickness variation and for 5 to 10 times lower axial wall thickness variation. This provides for making high quality cold rolled tubes using thickened ends of hot finished tubes produced by stretch-reducing mills. These ends with the axial wall thickness variation of 30 to 60 percent are normally discarded in the world practice as they cannot be used for any kind of further processing.

Mill HPT-90 with tandem-type saddles can be built and delivered together with tooling, tube rolling methods and documentation within the period of 8 to 10 months by JSC “Sumy Frunze NPO” (Ukraine).

On the buyer's request, mills can be equipped with the induction heating units for warm tube rolling at 100 to 250 deg.C.
